Day 266 Tuesday 20th December 2011

Almost Christmas

I was hoping on a nice sunny start to my day, alas….this is all I have to give I’m afraid.

Day 262 Friday 16th December 2011

I wish more days were like this…

Today, I started my day on the Manly Ferry, which is where I took this photo, as I waited for the ferry to depart. Sitting on a ferry for half an hour as it sailed across Sydney Harbour was a good start to my day!

Where Summer Belongs

This is how each day should begin at this time of year…afterall, it is Summer here, in the Southern hemisphere. However, of late, the weather has been pretty awful, most days have been filled with grey clouds and rain. I wonder when Summer is planning on making an appearance.

Waiting for a Train

I was waiting for a train this afternoon when I saw this cockatoo in the tree nearby, perhaps it was tired of flying and wanted to catch a train too?!

Day 259 Tuesday 13th December 2011

Peace & Quiet

I was fortunate to be here during my working day taking photographs for my work. Wish every day was like this!!

Flying Low

Sorry not very good photo today…didn’t have any inspiration and I took this as I walked home after I finished work.

Take Shelter Whilst you Can

Today has been one looooooong day. I have been awake since 3:15am!

In this time I have…

I have watched the moon, saw dawn appear, heard 1 lone bird sing – the first birdsong of the day, watched the sunrise, saw blue sky appear, watched blue sky and little fluffy clouds disappear and within 2 hours this monster of a cloud replaced them whilst I was on the beach with a beach umbrella because 2 hours prior to this cloud it was really hot and sunny. This storm cloud moved so quickly and got bigger and bigger. Needless to say, it didn’t take me long to pack up my stuff and ‘run for the hills’ (I didn’t want to get my camera wet!!)

Pretty impressive sky I think. Today, the sky made me feel so small…I felt like an ant!

Big Sky over Sydney

This was taken this evening, around 7:30pm. I loved the clouds in the sky and wanted to focus more on the sky than of Sydney City, which are the building that you can see.

This was taken from North Head. This spot is one of the best vantage points by the way, to view the Sydney to Hobart boat race on boxing day.

Hope you like this.

Day 255 Friday 09th December 2011

The calming effect the ocean has on me…

Today, I had a rather long, busy day – followed by a mad dash to see the mortgage people, for us to sign our mortgage papers. It’s all done. I posted it in the letterbox, whilst my partner went to fetch the car. For a split second, I hesitated about posting it…as I feel like I have just signed my life away (this I know is just jitters, because it’s the first house for me) I am really excited, but my heart was racing and to be honest, I felt rather emotional. Sorry for mentioning buying the house yet again, but it is a pretty big step in my life.

On our way home, we stopped so that I could look at the ocean. By watching the waves rolling in, it calmed me incredibly, nothing else in my life – has such an effect on me. Like I have mentioned so many times in previous posts, I feel so content and alive when I am near the ocean.

Day 254 Thursday 08th December 2011

Wet & Hungry

I felt so sorry for this little fella, he was absolutely soaked in raindrops. At first, I thought he wasn’t alive, because he was just soaked through. He was on the table that I was sat at, in the local park close to my work.

After last weeks poor butterfly, I saw this caterpillar and I sighed quietly to myself.

About ten minutes later – he started hurrying towards me, as I was eating my salad sandwich. A piece of lettuce had dropped on to the table and this little chap decided that he was going to get a free meal.

Day 253 Wednesday 07th December 2011

As the Day Begins…

Today is going to be a good day…I can feel it in my bones.

I didn’t have to set my alarm to go off this morning quite as early as I have to most days and I still woke up at 5:15am!! I do this nearly every day, I wake up before my alarm goes off. It drives me crazy, I’d give anything for a sleep-in.

On a plus note, if I hadn’t woken up when I did, I would have missed out on this beauty of a sunrise – so every cloud has a silver lining!

Day 252 Tuesday 06th December 2011

The Only Sun I’ll See

This was taken about 20 minutes ago – about 05:45am. As I write this, the clouds are gathering and getting darker and darker, I think I am going to be seeing a lot of rain today and not much sunshine.

Oh well, at least I started my day off well and got to see some sun, even if it was just for a short while, it’s better than nothing.

Day 251 Monday 05th December 2011

Let the Light Shine Through

As I was getting ready to add my photograph for today, I received a phone call from a number that I didn’t recognise. It was a Lady advising us that our mortgage application had been approved, which, let me tell you… is such a massive weight lifted off our shoulders, it now means that we can hopefully exchange contracts this weeks, which means that we will be moving (hopefully) next month – woo hoooo!! It will also mean that no-one else can put an offer in on the house that we are interested in – this is something that I have been so worried about as I know that it does happen and I was dreading the fact that it could happen to us, now…unless we get some really unfortunate luck – this won’t be something that we will have to worry about.

I can’t wait to have a garden and to grow vegetables, to have a dog, to have possums in our tree, to plant native flowers that attract native birds. To finally have somewhere that we can call ‘ours’. To finally, have a proper home.

I’m so excited, I feel like Christmas just came early!

This photo, I took this morning, before I started work and I remember as I took it, I actually felt as though the sky was opening up before me and was letting the light shine through on to me. Maybe I was right.

What a year this has been!

I hope you like this photo.

The Day after the Night Before

Today has been a very quiet day after last night. It’s nice not doing much to be honest and the weather hasn’t been all the great today. As I write this, I’m looking out at the ocean and all I can see is rain and grey clouds.

Because we (my partner and I) weren’t feeling the greatest, from perhaps a little tooo much alcohol last night, we decided to go and get a much-needed coffee. On our way home, we stopped at this beach, so that I could take a photograph during a break in the rain.

I wish the sun would come out to play today.

This was taken at North Curl Curl, Sydney Northern Beaches.

Day 249 Saturday 03rd December 2011

And so the festive season well and truly begins…

Tonight was such a good evening. I went to my partners work Christmas Party, which was held at Luna Park, Sydney. It was fancy dress and the theme was ‘uniform’. My choice, was to go as a Mime Artist – I wanted to do something a little different to the usual Nuns, Vicars, Doctors, Pilots, Nurses etc…

It was such a fun night and everyone made a really good effort, there were indeed all of the above uniforms, including a pregnant(real life pregnant) Nun and a Vicar, a Cross dressing Vicar, which in my opinion was one of the best costumes of the night, the image of him will stay with me for a loooooooong time.

Then there was my partner who went as a Pirate, not sure that a Pirates eye patch and a scarf around the head with a skull & crossbones is considered a uniform, but never the less, he looked really good.

There were others in school uniforms – lots of Pilots (I’m sure that this was probably a wishful thinking in another life kind of costume!)

They actually had a photo-booth there, so that you could take photographs of yourself (what a great idea)! Let me tell you, there were some very very funny photographs in that booth!

My entry today, is a photo of the photographs of me.

Hope they make you smile.

Haven’t had a fun night out like this in such a long time.

Day 248 Friday 02nd December 2011

The End of Another Busy Week

This photo was taken at the end of today, shortly before sunset. I was so tired by the time I got home from work and to be honest, I really had to summon up the energy from the bottom of my feet to go outside and get some inspiration to photograph something. This photo was the best I could do I’m afraid. I’m sooo tired.

Day 247 Thursday 01st December 2011

Flutter Her Wings No More

Today, is the first day of Summer! I am so happy about this fact and what started off as a grey, cloudy, cool day, over time by mid-afternoon it became much warmer and blue sky surrounded me, when I went for my walk at lunch time.

Whilst walking, I came across this butterfly. At first I thought it was resting on the path and then I thought that perhaps it was injured and I was going to see if there was some way that I could help it. Upon closer inspection, sadly the butterfly had fluttered its wings for the last time, for the butterfly had died.

It was so pretty and delicate, I actually felt rather sad to find that it had died, but that’s nature I guess.
