A Beach That Goes on Forever
This shot was taken on the same day that I saw dolphins surfing in the waves….which really isn’t something you see every day.
This was taken over Christmas. If I am honest, I prefer this shot to the dolphin one, but like I said, it’s not something you see every day, so this one had to stay on the back burner. I hope you like this.
Little Yellow Bird
As promised, here’s the photo of the little yellow bird that I took last weekend, but I chose another photo that I took on the same day to represent my day, in the 365 project.
Today was the first day in a year that I haven’t taken a photo and I must say, it feels really strange!
Over the next week, I will share some photos, like this one, of shots that I took during my 365 project, but didn’t make it in to the project itself. They will be put on here in no particular order… After or maybe during Easter, I will start my 365 project part 2, so stay posted. :-)
Let the Fanfare Commence Play- My Last Sunrise (and day of this 365/366 project)
Let the fanfare commence play….for today is a monumental day for me, for I have made it to the end of my 365 days project (366 with it being a leap year).
I had a quiet word with Mother Nature this morning, requesting a decent sunrise for my last day…she didn’t let me down.
I think I can say now, with my head held high that I did it! Not one day did I miss, no cheating for me, I actually did it! I am so incredibly proud of this project and I am overwhelmed by the support I have had from people all around the world, people that I didn’t know before I started this project.
This project has had a profound effect on me and on my life, which is why I am going to be doing a second one, starting in a few days time.
Thank you again, to my followers and to all of your comments. I apologise if I didn’t get round to replying to you, but thank you, they mean a lot to me.
Well, I hope you like my final post on this 365. I just took it enroute to work. I am in fact writing this in the car, so this really is hot off the press :-)
Kangaroo Point Wharf, NSW, Australia
Well, firstly, I still have 1 more day, due to the Leap Year, so technically this project was actually about 366 days, not 365 days.
I have so much to say and I guess I will say most of it tomorrow on my final post for this 365 project….however, I will be doing a second 365 project as it is part of me now… this 365 bug! and like I mentioned in a previous post, I hope you will join me on that adventure too! Especially as I will be concentrating much much more on my photography, as I am dedicating 2 days a week to photography, for not only is this project coming to an end this week, but on Friday I will be leaving one of my jobs and I am going to focus more now on what I want in life and what I need to do to make me happy and that is taking photographs. of course, my partner makes me happy, friends, family etc but I want/need to do something for me.
Some good news regarding my second 365, is that I will be travelling to the other side of the world during 2012, so I will get to share this with you!
As I write, this, I am sitting alongside the waters edge, getting bitten to death by ants, as I have been patiently waiting for the sun to go down. I hope my efforts were worth the while!
By the way, it was grey and miserable this morning with lots of rain to go in the is and I was so worried that I wouldn’t have a nice photo to share today, looks like lady luck was on my side!
So, just one more post to go! And one more thing to say on today’s post….today, is my Uncle’s 60th Birthday, so Uncle John…this one is for you.
Just took this photo, I am in the car as I write this enroute to work. My partner kindly stopped for a while, so that I could photograph the sunrise and the reflections on the water.
I feel so alive seeing beauty like this, first thing in the morning, What a nice start to my day! :-)
I only have 3 days left (3 days….as I am doing 366 days, due to leap year). Can’t believe that I am almost at the end of this huge journey I have been on. The fact that I have an entire year of my life documented in photographs, is to me, mind boggling and I have to say, that this will be a year of my life that I will never forget! I am not going to get all sentimental now, now is to the time, just that I guess, this photo that I took this evening, reminded me just how close I am to the end, as I thought….on Sunday, the clocks change here in Australia and I won’t get to see the beach late afternoon and that I would need to make the most of it, whilst I still can…..but I won’t need to next week as the project will have come to an end! Which actually feels wrong to me.
This project has become part of me and with saying that, I think I will give myself a few days off at the end and will start again and that is mainly due to all the support and amazing people I have met through my humble little blog…..I will dedicate my last day to you all, but I am not quite there…..just yet! Bu I hope you will support me on 365 part 2?!
Grey Skies Looming……Again…
Had a relatively quiet day today. went for a very short ride on my scooter to the local beach, where I took this photo. As you can see, rain was threatening, but as I write this, the sun has come out and so far, there has been no actual sign of rain….perhaps this afternoon, it will brighten up.

A Day of Tranquility
Today has been such a lovely day, as went to a place called The Forest of Tranquility, which is located on the Central Coast, NSW, Australia, where we went for a 5km walk and then had a picnic.
Afterwards, we drove back along the coast and stopped off at a lake which is where I took this photo. Both the water and sky were so blue.
If I hadn’t taken this shot, my other choice for today, would have been a photo that I took of a yellow bird…it was really beautiful. Perhaps I will share with you, after my 365 project comes to an end.
This photo, of the pelicans ties in really with me and my passion of water, of peace and well….tranquility.
I am rather glad to see the back of this week as it has been such an incredibly long one and I feel mentally exhausted. Looking forward to kayaking at some point during the weekend, especially as the weather is forecast to be as nice as it was today..blue blue blue sky!
I took this shot on my way home, after my daily commute. The days are closing in and soon the clocks will be changing, which will mean even shorter days. I need to make the most of the daylight, even if it is just for a short while, whilst stepping out of the car to take a photograph like this. It’s the best I can do I am afraid! I hope I can take some nice/better photographs over the weekend.
Out Came the Landing Gear…
It only took me 2 hours to get home today, so I made the most of my time and went to the local beach, hoping to photograph another sunset.
There I was, sitting on a rock, watching and listening to the waves and also looking up at the sky every now and again….monitoring how much longer I’d need to wait before the sky would start to change colour.
I had taken quite a few shots, of the cloud formation and was all poised, ready to take another shot, when right in my view came this rather haphazard pelican, who landed rather clumsily but then composed itself and went about its business….of floating and doing, well nothing really!
I am really pleased with this shot and as I uploaded it onto here, I couldn’t help but smile….I hope it has the same effect on you. :-)
You can also see that the clouds were just starting to change colour too….btw it was a nice sunset!
The Things I do for Photography….
After a very long day at work, I saw the most amazing sunset…which really lifted my spirits. I waded in to the middle of a lagoon, with my skirt tucked into my undies, so that I could take this shot….I hope you like it! :-)

Woy Woy Bay, NSW Australia
I went for an early morning ride on my scooter this morning and it was so lovely, the smell of the eucalyptus trees after the rain…..bliss!
Later in the afternoon, we went for a drive in the car and stopped off at a place called Woy Woy Bay, which is where this was taken.
I think this would be a nice place for us to to kayak, in the not too distant future, once my back is ok to do so.
It was a beautiful day today. It felt more like Summer than Autumn.
As my day was spent in an office, without having an opportunity to see natural light, when I finally did get an opportunity, I grabbed it with both hands and feet, and boy did the sky have some impressive light to show me, once I had finished my train commute.
This was taken in a place called Gosford, NSW, Australia. Apparently, they are predicting storms tonight and I think they may be right.
Anyway, I hope you like the reflections.
Sunrise on My Train Ride
This morning, I took the train to work. I am actually writing this on the train. This photo was taken as the train made its way to Sydney.
Looks like it’s going to be a nice day weather wise. Wish I didn’t have to go to work today, so that I could go for a ride on my scooter. Oh well, I guess I have that to look forward to at the end of the day.
Enjoy your day and may you have some sunshine in your life today too!
Allow me to Introduce
Today, something rather exciting happened, I bought myself a scooter, to get me from a to b, to enable me to take more photographs, to give me independence.
I am incredibly happy.
I have called her Bella, as she is an Italian beauty.
a Never Ending Journey
After another long day in the office, I had to wait for a while at the train station for my train and it was so hot! I was looking forward to sitting in a nice cool carriage, but that didn’t happen, instead the train was roasting hot as there was no air conditioning. After about an hour of being stuck on a train going nowhere, they announced that the train had major problems, to the point where they announced on the speaker for everyone in the last 4 carriages to get off and board the front 4 carriages, which were already full. I was already in one of the front 4 and over 100 people tried to get in. It was awful. Eventually the train started, minue the 4 rear carriages and we carried on to next stop, which was thankfully mine, because they then announced that the train was going nowhere else, I felt so sorry for everyone else.
Because my train was so late, I missed my connecting bus and so decided to hop on any one, I didn’t care to be honest! I ended up going on a really lovely journey with a very nice driver and he dropped me off st the far end of my beach and I walked home and it was bliss to paddle in the water.
What made my walk even better, was from out of a nowhere an absolutely beautiful dog appeared with a great big stick, wanting me to throw it for her, and that’s exactly what i did, for the entire length of the beach. I actually said to the dog (as if she could understand me) “where’s your owner?” and with that, with perfect timing, she turned around and ran the entire length of the beach back to wherever she came from.
I felt as though she was meant to find me, as she cheered me up no end.
Not so Incy Wincy Spider
I was about to walk underneath a bridge to photograph a lagoon when I came face to face with a dozen or so spiders, hanging off what to me looked like an invisible webb, as I didn’t see them, until, like I said, I came face to face with them and they were pretty big “don’t mess with me” type looking spiders. So, in the end, I decided not to mess with them and alas, I didn’t get to make it under the bridge. I guess they didn’t need any trolls under this bridge, not if spiders kept me away :)
This morning I woke up at 3am! Yes, you heard me right…3am on a Saturday! Too many things on my mind.
I decided to walk to my local beach to watch the sunrise and it was beautiful.
Avoca Beach is so incredibly beautiful and I must say, I have missed witnessing the sun rise over the ocean.
I was very tempted to put one of the sunrise shots up, but as there weren’t many clouds (not that I’m complaining about that….after all the rain we’ve had of late, a clear blue sky is welcome in my day, any day!), the sunrise wasn’t as atmospheric as I had hoped and I actually rather like this capture, of 3 surfers off for their morning surf. Felt rather envious of them actually.
At the End of the Week
So happy that it is the end of the working week. On our way home, we stopped off at a sports stadium to watch an NRL rugby game. It was an exciting match and our team won.
This photo was taken enroute to the game.

My Perfect End to a Day
I had such a full on day at work today, but thankfully my commute home only took just over an hour, which meant that I was able to get to my local beach, before it got dark.
The waves today were incredible and there was some amazing surfing going on, mostly by little boys who only looked about 8 years old, yet there they were…out there in the big surf, full of confidence and enthusiasm and they showed no fear.
Not only was the water breath taking to look at, but so was their surfing. For the first time today, I felt alive! That is the power the ocean has over me, I really mean that.
Avoca Beach, NSW, Australia
After along day filled with facts and information and what felt like an even longer journey I home, it was nice to see these flowers coming to life in the garden. I am not sure what they are, I think they may belong to the onion family as that is what they smell of.
